SNAFU Minor

Raised Eyebrow

The architect and local Architectural Review Board spent many hours on the placement and shape of the eyebrow window in our new roof.  The framer (Framing 2 Finish), however, was somewhat cavalier when interpreting the plan.  The only way to convince him there was a problem was to mount a full-scale blow-up of the architect’s elevation over the window frame he had built.  Mistakes like these made it impossible for the subcontractors to realize a profit.  As a result, they quickly lost interest.

A Touch of Irony

Final siding, trim and caulking added by homeowners after general contractor's delays.

The General Contractor did not want to finish the window's siding, citing his fear of heights.  With winter weather approaching, we agreed to do the work ourselves in exchange for a $500 credit.  The credit was never received.
